More news from Latin America! We took another step for spreading Wialon platform presence in Mexico. Koven Cheung, our Technical Account Manager in Latin America was representing Gurtam at the international event that united national business entities from the transportation sector. Our colleague highlights the trends and expectations of the Mexican telematics market.
Monterrey is one of the wealthiest and the most developed cities in Mexico. With the purchasing power parity being considerably higher than in the rest of the country, the city became an important industrial and business commercial center of the northern Mexico.
The Monterrey Transportation Providers Expo actually reflected the status of the city. The event attracted around 300 key industry companies and more than 18 000 visitors including hardware manufacturers and Gurtam partners from Unicomm, SkyGuardian, Meitrack, Suntech.
Companies from the USA, Mexico and worldwide were shaping the future of intelligent vehicle tracking solutions in the US southern neighbour.
There is a very interesting and, at some point, promising for Wialon fact about the Mexican telematics market. The fleet monitoring sector is extremely fragmented and there are no prevalent providers. None of the companies dominate more than a 5% market share. So taking intensive actions in promoting Wialon with its benefits is the direction to succeed at the market of Mexico.
Another curious fact is that sizes of existing solution providers vary significantly: from 100 subscribers to 10,000 units; which means that any entering company can find its own niche.
According to the C.J. Driscoll & Associates report, the Mexican intelligent GPS monitoring and end-customer telematics markets are expected to grow to nearly US $700 Million by 2019.
The regional telematics market is not only growing. It’s expanding into a variety of sectors: governmental segment, private security, public transport, taxi and ride services, medical transportation, etc.
Koven Cheung adds that the market is going beyond the car theft prevention and the stolen vehicle returns. The fleet owners and transportation services providers require additional features in order to cut operational costs and risk and increase overall fleet efficiency. And that’s where Wialon GPS fleet tracking providers can prevail by offering advanced functionality.
Additionally, we can’t but mention the integration of Wialon with digital video recording (SmartWitness KP1 and Streamax) systems. Video streaming during the route performance will be a great direction to add to already provided services.
Let’s sum up the mentioned above. Though, the country is facing high criminal statistics including car theft rate, the rise of the intelligent monitoring is on the horizon. Wialon has got various opportunities for increasing market presence.
Gurtam will be highlighting more deployment cases on the Partner Conference Telematics 2017. See you there!
