Getting to know a company begins with its people. When you walk into an office, you notice the conversations, see the smiles, and feel the atmosphere — and that first impression lasts. At Gurtam, this feeling comes from everyone who brings the company to life through their work, creativity, and dedication. Over 22 years, Gurtam has grown from a startup to a leader in fleet management solutions, with every step driven by the energy and ideas of its team.

The name Tamar belongs not only to the Head of Gurtam Tbilisi Office but also to the great Georgian queen who, in the 12th century, established a thriving and cultured state between the two seas. Like her namesake, Tamar brings a natural energy and positivity to the office. She oversees office operations, handles relationships with service providers, and ensures everything runs smoothly from a legal and administrative standpoint.
Which Gurtam product do you work with, and what are your main responsibilities?
As the Head of Gurtam’s Tbilisi Office and Local People and Culture Manager, I might not be on the front lines of tech development. Still, I’m fully committed to creating an environment that fuels our team’s creativity and drive. My motivation is crafting moments that inspire, from preparing meaningful events to ensuring our office is where people love to work, connect, and create. I’m here to ensure Gurtam’s spirit is felt when you enter the door.
When working at Gurtam, which movie or book character do you feel like and why?
I’d say two characters:
First, it would be Remy from Ratatouille, not just because I love creativity and teamwork! Like Remy, I’m all about bringing the unexpected into everyday routines. Whether with a team-building event or a fresh office initiative, I’m constantly “cooking up” ways to make our workplace engaging and inspiring.
Second, I feel like Mary Poppins, a manager who brings a little magic to everyday tasks and fun to routine work. I aim to make the work environment supportive, enjoyable, and enriching for everyone so they feel uplifted and ready to take on challenges with a smile. Plus, like Mary, I always have a few surprises to keep things interesting!
What do you think is the biggest value Gurtam brings to the world?
For me, Gurtam’s real impact is in how we connect the dots. We’re making fleet management smart and transformative, giving companies the insights and control to operate efficiently, safely, and sustainably.
Beyond that, Gurtam’s culture is what sets us apart: our commitment to collaboration, innovation, and people makes us not just a tech company but a true partner to our clients and a force for good in our communities.
Alexander is a backend engineer specializing in the development and maintenance of the telematics backend platform, with a primary focus on the framework that supports internal services.
If expertise in development were measured in kilometers, Alexander would already be on his way to the ISS (International Space Station)! With 16 years at Gurtam, he’s not just solving technical problems — he’s turning them into elegant solutions.
Which Gurtam product do you work with, and what are your main responsibilities?
I work in the flespi team, which develops the product with the same name. flespi is a telematics backend, a toolkit that can be used to build telematics systems of any scale, from that for startups to large corporations.
The uniqueness of our team is that we define the direction of development ourselves. We don’t have strict frameworks like Scrum. We discuss tasks and make collective decisions that are supported by the majority. This allows us to focus on what matters and avoid distractions. Although flespi is a commercial product aimed at external users, 9 out of 10 people on our team are engineers. We handle support, administration, and business development ourselves. This year, we’ve had an eleventh team member — Codi. Codi is an AI assistant who has grown over the year and now handles around 70% of the support requests.
I’ve been with the company for over 16 years and have been involved in almost all major Gurtam products. On the flespi team, I’m responsible for developing and supporting the framework on which internal services are built and for creating and maintaining the services themselves.
When working at Gurtam, which movie or book character do you feel like and why?
Sometimes I feel like I’ve been working at Gurtam for too long. Over the years, talented people have come and gone, and it’s always been interesting to work with them. Some of them are still working at the company. Maybe because of my age, I now seek less close interaction with new colleagues.
Right now, I feel like the sheriff in the Coen brothers' film No Country for Old Men. I want younger employees to experience that euphoria when your product becomes successful, just like I did with Wialon and flespi.
What do you think is the biggest value Gurtam brings to the world?
Gurtam's value is not only that it became a pioneer in commercial telematics software but also that it raised an entire generation of specialists in the field. Even if they work now in other companies, many of them look back at their time at Gurtam with warmth.
As a Partner Success Manager at Gurtam, Heloisa is passionate about building and nurturing strong relationships with partners. She loves traveling and always feels like a tourist, which helps her connect easily with colleagues from different countries, embracing the diversity of perspectives and cultures.
Which Gurtam product do you work with, and what are your main responsibilities?
I am a Partner Success Manager in the Wialon division. I onboard new partners, build and maintain relationships with active partners, understand their needs, address concerns, gather feedback, and more. This is the entire cycle, where we not only sell our solution but also support the development of our partners, providing them with tips and tools to do business successfully with us. Their success is important to us.
When working at Gurtam, which movie or book character do you feel like and why?
For me, working at Gurtam feels like being a character from La La Land. Much like the ups and downs, working with both the company and partners involves navigating moments of success and struggle, balancing dreams with reality. It's a constant dance of adjustments and perseverance, but in the end, it’s all about the journey and building something meaningful together.
What do you think is the biggest value Gurtam brings to the world?
Gurtam's ability to provide powerful, reliable tracking solutions that help businesses optimize their operations, improve safety, and make smarter decisions sets us apart.
Tadas is a pro at solving technical issues, turning even the most complex problems into simple, clear solutions. He channels his inner Sherlock Holmes, tackling challenges like a detective solving a mystery — following the clues, connecting the dots, and uncovering all the "Hound of the Baskervilles" along the way, finding clever solutions where others see dead ends.
Which Gurtam product do you work with, and what are your main responsibilities?
I work with Wialon, the fleet management software for GPS tracking. My main responsibilities are to assist our partners with any technical issues they have when using Wialon and to provide practical solutions for their use cases.
When working at Gurtam, which movie or book character do you feel like and why?
I can't think of one that best represents what I do all the time; I mostly feel like myself. If I have to choose, Sherlock Holmes, maybe. This is when the issue needs a thorough investigation, and I do come up with a solution after long consideration, especially if such a solution is a workaround and not even close to being obvious or if there was no real previous precedent for it.
What do you think is the biggest value Gurtam brings to the world?
All Gurtam products allow us to work with GPS and IoT device data. As our partners' use cases and requirements vary greatly – from simple fuel monitoring to solutions for controlling conveyor belt production or managing taxi fleets – this versatility in solutions for working with that data is the greatest benefit I can think of.
Rostislav is the living embodiment of a multi-armed Shiva in the GPS-Trace family! He does it all: from shooting and writing to sales and team management — and all before lunch! His work ethic is truly inspiring, and he’s always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
Which Gurtam product do you work with, and what are your main responsibilities?
I work with the GPS-Trace platform. In the GPS-Trace team, it’s actually hard to define where one person’s responsibilities end and another’s begin.
Right now, I’m mainly responsible for project management within the Space team. All projects are closely linked to applications on the GPS-Trace platform and require attention at each stage, from concept to production release.
In my spare time, I also make short videos for the apps, communicate with partners on technical (and non-technical) issues, write articles, and handle many R&D-related tasks.
When working at Gurtam, which movie or book character do you feel like and why?
Forrest Gump. Forrest has a simple outlook on life and finds himself in all sorts of places and situations. Throughout his life, he tried himself in many roles: he played American football, fought in Vietnam, became a champion at table tennis, ran a business, and even ran across the country.
That’s pretty close to my work experience. One day, you're handling tickets for 240,000 users and 200+ partners; the next, you're hosting Gurtam Dev Conf; and the day after, you’re recording a demo video for Asset Tracking. Some things go well, some don’t, but only those who do nothing make no mistakes.
What do you think is the biggest value Gurtam brings to the world?
Honestly, I won’t say anything complex or intricate. Quite simply, we enable a large number of people and companies to earn money and make the world a bit safer and more efficient.
As a Technical Support Engineer at Gurtam, Vladimir is responsible for testing and integrating new telematics hardware, ensuring its compatibility with the software. Vladimir knows how to solve even the most challenging problems quickly and efficiently. He ensures smooth communication with clients while maintaining his focus. In his free time, he’s the go-to guy for fixing any gadget.
Which Gurtam product do you work with, and what are your main responsibilities?
I work with Wialon and am responsible for telematics hardware integration and support. To date, more than 3,600 hardware models have been integrated with Gurtam's products. This is our achievement. It’s always nice to realize that Gurtam is number one globally regarding the number of integrated models.
When working at Gurtam, which movie or book character do you feel like and why?
In my opinion, all hardware employees are a bit like spies. Our work is dangerous and challenging but not particularly visible. But we can proudly say that we bring innovation to Wialon — tachographs, video, LBS, and much more — all of this results from our work. This is possible thanks to our ability to provide precise technical data on hardware to the software team through close collaboration. And it’s nice that it’s actively used in developing our product features.
What do you think is the biggest value Gurtam brings to the world?
Gurtam makes complex things simple and understandable (I’m talking about tracking). These simple things help our partners optimize their business and operational resources, and in turn, make the Earth a little cleaner and more beautiful. Our descendants will thank us. Well, at least I hope they will.
22 years and counting
22 years is a lot or a little? In the digital world, where everything changes in the blink of an eye, it's quite an achievement. Yet, for a company like Gurtam, it's just the beginning — a journey defined by steady, careful growth and constant progress. Gurtam's value lies in its knowledge, and this knowledge is rooted in the people who accumulate and develop it every day.
Thanks to the team and the high quality of work, Gurtam remains a leader in the industry and is ready for new achievements in the future. Of course, a great sense of humor plays its part in success, helping to navigate challenges and stay one step ahead, even when the unexpected arises.
