Providing passengers with information on public transport

Problem

DAN-TRADE LLC is a full-cycle ad agency that develops advertising solutions using GPS monitoring technologies.

The company faced the challenge of organizing the transfer of online data on public transport traffic in Simferopol to another platform. This was necessary to enable passengers to use all the Yandex.Transport features in their location and obtain a more convenient public transport service.

Solution

The Wialon partner Interra from Russia developed a WatchTheBus backend solution that integrated Yandex.Transport, Wialon, and NimBus.

• Telematics hardware previously installed on vehicles by the customer collects data on vehicles’ location and movement. Then, the information goes to the Wialon monitoring platform and the NimBus application where users configure routes, schedules, and stops.
• The Interra specialists developed a data transfer gateway to the Yandex.Transport service that interacts with the Wialon monitoring platform and NimBus, an application for public transportation tracking.
• Thanks to WatchTheBus, information on vehicles is available to Yandex.Transport users. This application allows passengers to find stops, learn the exact arrival time, etc., directly from their mobile phones online.

In the future, Interra plans to provide the service for data transmission to Yandex.Transport for other market players.
