The sharing economy is picking up the pace these days, and our partners are making use of it. Today, we will tell you about the project by Expert Telematics, the service provider from Russia. It was developed for the company that leases its vehicles to taxi pools.

Problem

A large leasing company from Moscow was seeking assistance from our partner needing to solve several problems.

The thing was that taxi aggregators (the customer’s clients) as a rule do not provide quality fleet management. It all comes down to the driver-passenger interaction apps and financial transactions solutions. Meanwhile, such advantages of transport monitoring as location, fuel, and driving style control are left out.

In view of its business paradigm, the customer wanted to monitor its vehicles for several years. Other Wialon functionality was also necessary: routing, sensors parameters analysis, working with geofences, etc.

To top it off, regular car theft attempts were occurring. This problem should have been addressed too. Read below how the Gurtam partner handled it.

Solution

Expert Telematics specialists developed a customized Wialon-based solution. Galileosky 7.0 Lite trackers used in the project allowed for controlling all the vehicle’s elements (headlights, doors, engine, etc.). It was significant here to monitor their timely enabling/disabling. For example, if the taxi driver left the headlights on or the door unlocked, the system tracks all these things. Thus, you can control traffic violations, safety belts usage, and other parameters.

Now, let’s talk about car thefts. The integration with the security company software made it possible for the dispatcher to send and receive alert notifications. Before the solution was implemented, the dispatcher couldn’t even understand right away that the car was stolen. They had to call the driver, then the rapid response unit, and it all was taking precious time. After the project delivery, the dispatcher can assess the situation within seconds, kill the car’s engine remotely, and send special people to deter the thieves; all by clicking just one button in Wialon interface.

The equipment

Galileosky 7.0 Lite terminal was chosen for the project due to the Easy Logic technology support. This technology helped to create power-saving algorithms (to extend the tracker battery runtime from 1.5-2 hours to 5-6 hours), doors/engine secure lockup algorithms, and actions algorithms for different types of alerts. The device could boast a reasonable price as well.

Problem

Together with Galileosky tracker, the partner used Starline engine locking relay. It consumes little energy, hence not damaging the tracker’s outputs.

Reports and analytics

The entire data set from the vehicle is processed in Wialon. Easy-to-understand customized reports are generated upon the client’s request. For example, here is the report on the driving style:

Problem

The summary data report is built manually on the parameters required by the client and shows the overall mileage of the vehicle, the mileage for the specified period, engine hours, movement and idling time, maximum and average speed, engine speed, fuel consumption, and coordinates.

Problem

Apart from getting statistics, the dispatcher, as it was mentioned before, can control the vehicle in real time and see if the driver’s seatbelt is fastened or if the doors and the trunk are closed.

Problem

Notifications

Any event, registered in the system as an alarming one, triggers the alert notification. Thus, battery discharge, connection loss, speeding, and other events are clearly visible to the dispatcher.

Problem

Results

  • A turn-key Wialon-based solution integrated with the software of the security company: the customer provides only the requirements while our partner handles the rest, including the integration with a third-party system.

  • Reasonable project cost due to the middle-end equipment. It is an excellent opportunity to save money, especially when you need to connect many units as in this case (the units number is planned to be raised from 100 to 1,500).

  • Two car thefts were prevented. The company retained its resources and time.

Currently, more scripts are being created in the Easy Logic environment according to the arising customer’s requirements.
