To win a new project and a loyal customer, the integrator usually has to prove their expertise, and very often, the testimonials of other customers are not enough. While possessing certain certificates and licenses shows that the quality of your services is approved by outside sources, including the government.

Today, we came up with a list of the most popular papers relevant to the UK. They allow to:

  • have a better brand image locally;
  • have more сlient’s trust in the services and products provided;
  • increase prices and revenue (in some cases).

Let’s go ahead and talk about them in detail. This article will be useful not only for British integrators who have just started their journey in the telematics business. Also, our partners from other countries who would like to expand their geography and work with clients conducting business partially or fully on the territory of the UK will know more about the certificates that may give them more presence on the market.

Thatcham

Thatcham tests the monitoring system and (or) the hardware that the company offers. If they meet the requirements, the integrator gets a certificate. The majority of insurance companies in the UK trust only the Thatcham-approved businesses, so if you deal with clients involved in insurance, a Thatcham certificate is almost a must-have. Having it means your services have been independently tested to the highest level, which allows you to raise the price for your services.

By the way, our Eco Driving app can be successfully used in the UBI sphere. It effectively detects speedings and crashes when using the telematics hardware with proper functionality.

We have partners who have successfully received the Thatcham certification with Wialon, so you can do it, too.

FORS

FORS is an accreditation scheme created to demonstrate fleet operators that are achieving best practices in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection. Becoming a FORS member guarantees that your company manages its work-related road risk and shows your customers and supply chain your commitment to meeting and even exceeding the industry standards.

Anyone dealing with trucks can obtain a FORS certificate on a governmental level. In many cases, it helps integrators to close the deals as it certifies the vehicles’ smooth and safe work.

When it comes to vehicle’s untroubled running, Fleetrun is a good option to offer to a customer. This maintenance solution helps avoid critical breakdowns and improve the rides’ safety.

TASSA

TASSA is a governing body that tests vehicle security products. They research and set best practices for predominately the aftermarket security systems of all vehicle and equipment types countering theft and fraud. To become an official TASSA installer, the integrator has to get through a verification process.

Speaking about security, many Wialon partners have successfully used Wialon for car theft prevention, too.

DAERA

The DAERA organization is involved in checking the cattle transportation conditions and monitoring animals in rural areas all over the UK and across Europe. They monitor if the vehicle’s back door is open or closed, the movement of each animal, the temperature inside the vehicle with animals, etc. Any integrator who wants to take on the cattle monitoring project in the UK should follow the DAERA’s recommendations.

Wialon can be used in cattle monitoring and controlling the animals’ welfare. As a matter of fact, technically, animal monitoring is quite similar to personal monitoring. The use case with ice cream transportation in hot Sri Lanka is also an excellent example of tracking the environment suitable for animal transportation (we are talking about temperature control now).

DVS

The DVS safety permit for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) requires the operators of HGVs over 12 tonnes to obtain a permit before entering and operating in Greater London. Otherwise, the company can receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN). The Direct Vision Standard measures how far an HGV driver can see directly through the cab windows. This indicates the level of risk for other road users, pedestrians, and cyclists, approaching the vehicle.

The minimum DVS star rating

The permit is granted if the vehicle meets the minimum DVS star rating. If the vehicle does not meet it, the company receives a PCN. To avoid this, it has to fit in with the Safe System improvements.

Safety is a big deal in Wialon, too. You can set up different types of notifications when configuring the system to control speed, for example, including the road speed limits usage.

If you need more information on how Wialon aligns with these certificates, licenses, and permits, if it has all the necessary features and so on, feel free to contact your personal manager or drop us a line at sales@gurtam.com. We’ll be glad to consult you.
