About the Transport Innovation Forum
The Transport Innovation Forum has a proven track record of hosting highly successful events annually, making it the leading platform for innovation and collaboration across the Baltic region. This year's forum, the sixth of its kind, was no different.
Hosting 80 speakers and panels, it brought together more than 900 participants from 18 countries, either in person or virtually. The event's live broadcast was enjoyed by approximately 23,000 viewers, making it a focal point for businesses, innovators, and community members keen on the transportation and logistics industry.
During the event, a wide array of topics was discussed: from the potential of green hydrogen as a fuel to the business benefits of fleet digitization. The event also featured innovative exhibitions and the opportunity to network with fellow interested organizations.
What is the importance of the Forum
Who would have thought that it takes the combined efforts of 29 companies to deliver your cup of coffee, or a whopping 10,000 supplying firms to roll out a Volvo car from the factories of Sweden? In one of the Forum panel discussions, Umberto de Pretto, the Secretary General at the International Road Transport Union (IRU), shared this interesting data, reminding us that without the crucial role of transport, you wouldn't have that aromatic coffee to start your day, nor would you get your dependable car. As Andreas Zink, the director of LKW Walter, succinctly puts it, "Transport is the backbone of the industry connecting all the suppliers.”
This just goes to show how vital transport and logistics are in our everyday lives, thereby stressing the significance of the Forum.

Topics at the Forum covered many ideas, all supporting this year’s theme of “Innovating for Resilience and Sustainability.” Speakers dove into how to merge evolving trends and challenges with new technology and improvements surrounding the transport and logistics sectors.
Distinguished leaders across the industry came together to discuss innovations in new transportation and logistics technology. Ideas were shared about current technology infrastructure and support, the policy development in the industry, and how digitalization, sustainability, and urban mobility will impact the industry’s future. Presenters touched on engaging topics like building business resilience with current competition and technical developments, global trade trends, and enhancing current systems.
The opening ceremony involved Ingrida Simonyte, Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, who said, “The last five years have encompassed a green and digital agenda, new standards, and solidarity with Ukraine in the transport sector. The next 5 years will mean introducing new technologies such as artificial intelligence.”

Aliaksandr Kuushynau, Head of Wialon at Gurtam, delivered a presentation, “From GPS Tracking to Complete Fleet Digitalization: The Evolution of Telematics.”
This presentation looked back to the times when telematics technology could only provide basic GPS tracking and assertively highlighted technological advancements that have been transforming fleet management since, providing new solutions that boost efficiency and level up operations for fleet managers. Aliaksandr's key idea is to use the maximum benefits of digitalization tools that current fleet management platforms provide.
Aliaksandr’s message during the presentation was entirely consistent with Sven Bartel’s, Director of Digital Portal & Solutions from DKV Mobility. Both emphasized the need for innovation and digitalization as new technologies can bring more value when based on current insights and trends, thus reshaping operations and affecting profitability. Companies that may think they are on top of the market could lose everything in the near future if they do not leverage innovative trends.

In between presentations and cutaway topics, participants could engage with Gurtam at a dedicated booth, which would provide an opportunity for all interested parties to get more information about Wialon and to meet the team behind the technology.
Both the Minister of Transport and the Prime Minister of Lithuania visited Gurtam’s booth. It was inspiring to showcase how Wialon is an innovative software solution to such high-level members of Lithuania’s leadership.
