Gurtam wins award for public transport digitalization

As cities continue to face challenges related to urbanization, emissions, and infrastructure efficiency, digital transformation is becoming a key enabler of change.

At the core of this transformation lies something more fundamental than it may seem at first glance: fleet digitalization. It is no longer just about managing vehicles; it is about building a connected, data-driven layer of urban mobility infrastructure — an area where GPS software companies and telematics software providers play a critical role.

Today, projects aimed at modernizing urban transport require a systemic approach. One such approach is based on a simple yet powerful idea: public transport should be managed as a unified municipal system, not as a collection of independent operational units.

To achieve this, cities need to integrate everything into a single digital environment: vehicles, drivers, routes, schedules, maintenance, and operational performance.

Within such solutions, Gurtam’s Wialon naturally fits as a flexible, scalable platform that brings all these elements together in one place.

Recognized by the industry

This vision and its real-world implementation were presented at the eMobility Innovation Awards 2026, held as part of the eMobility Expo World Congress in Málaga in March 2026.

The awards recognize organizations and projects that contribute to a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable mobility future, with a strong focus on electrification, digitalization, and the systemic transformation of transport.

We are proud to share that Gurtam received the award for Best Public Sustainable Mobility Solution for its project to digitalize urban transport in Turkey.

Gurtam, as a telematics software provider, is equally proud to stand alongside companies and organizations from different industries, such as Vecla, Capmar Systems, Solmes, and Vitoria-Gasteiz Mobility Lab — all of which are contributing to shaping the future of mobility.

477 A6130 Modified It’s honestly a great feeling to receive this award on behalf of Gurtam. We put a lot of effort into building solutions that  actually make a difference and change  transport operations across the globe, and  it’s great to see this being recognized. It also means a lot that our partners across Europe trust what we do and share our vision for more sustainable mobility.

A shared direction for the future

What unites all transport initiatives is a common direction: a transition toward smarter, more sustainable, and more inclusive mobility systems. This aligns closely with broader European priorities, where technology serves not only efficiency, but also environmental responsibility and quality of life.

Digital telematics platforms like Wialon play a key role in this transition. By turning operational data into actionable insights, they help cities:

  • reduce emissions and optimize resource usage

  • improve the reliability of public transport

  • enhance passenger safety and experience

  • make better, data-driven decisions

Ultimately, the future of mobility is not defined by a single technology, but by the ability to connect systems, processes, and stakeholders into one coherent ecosystem. And this is exactly the direction Gurtam is committed to building.

You can read more about the project on the Wialon site.
