Wialon Hosting: What’s new in October 2017

October – the time of great expectations. And there’s still one thing we need to clarify: what did you plan to enjoy most, the last days of Oktoberfest or Wialon Hosting October update? Reports

According to the statistics, geofence reports are among the top requested in Wialon system, so we want to make them maximum convenient to deal with. In October, we added an option to generate reports for geofences from all the available resources and select the resource in the table creation dialog. 

What do you get? Let’s say you are an executive in the company headquarters and consolidate the activities of 5 regional business units. Each unit has its own sub-account, resource, and geofence set. Still, you are the one to control them under the top-level account.

Thanks to the new function you can quickly create the all-in-one report instead of generating a separate report for every resource. As you see we’ve made the process time-saving and routine-free.       

“Connection restore” notification

In October, Wialon users got one more notification type after we split off “Connection restore” from “Connection loss” notification. Now you can not only receive notifications of two types but also specify separate notification actions and parameters when configuring them.

The above ensures prompt reaction to a notification and automates some aspects of unit management in the system. 

For instance, by selecting “Interposition of units” as a notification action, you create dynamically updated groups with online/offline units. In Wialon, notification is more than just information pop-ups. They are also used to trigger specific processes in the system. 17 notification actions are already available for Wialon users, while October update brings us the additional one: unit icon change activated by a notification.

The option allows you to quickly determine the units with no signal, ignition off, critical breakdowns, etc. making unit tracking on the map even more convenient. 

Other

While updating CMS Manager and the monitoring system interfaces we added the option to check if there’s a user/resource with the same name in the system when you create a new one. Thanks to this you no more spend time for verifications and concentrate on filling in custom fields with relevant information. 

Moreover, we implemented the new mechanism of automatic removal of rounds older than 10 days to improve system performance. And there is a reason: a round is created, tracked, and in the end left useless in the system hoarding the timeline. The more rounds are displayed, the slower Wialon operates. Thanks to the new mechanism the user won’t have to manually delete dozens of rounds to get the system running smoothly – Wialon does it by itself.
