ABI Research, the company providing strategic guidance for visionaries needing market foresight on the most compelling transformative technologies, published “Commercial Telematics: Competitive Assessment of Strategic Innovation and Implementation” report, where predicted the rise of global commercial telematics subscribers to 59 Million by 2021. The main role in this process belongs to 12 strategic commercial telematics suppliers, Gurtam is one of them.
ABI Research anticipates global commercial telematics system subscriptions to rise across trucking segments from 33 million this year to over 59 Million by 2021. The industry continues to develop innovative solutions, targeted to specific geographies and verticals as well as evolve existing technologies to support Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) and regulatory requirements. Companies such as Verizon, Omnitracs, G7, Trimble, TomTom Telematics, Gurtam, Geotab and MiX Telematics are addressing many of these segments.
Gurtam is a notable developer of GPS tracking, fleet management and M2M software. The company operates in over 130 countries and nearly all continents. Noticeable growth has occurred in both Latin American and Middle East regions. Localization extends to software in at least 30 different languages, including support services in English, Spanish and Russian. The company developed the Gurtam Translation System that permits fleets to translate web and mobile apps and the system itself into their languages from industry professionals checking, approving and implementing the tool.
“Over the last five years, the volume of units sold has risen exponentially, in the double digits. There is a significant focus on scaling, as the current platform can support larger volumes, with any downtime minimized through constant attention to availability and stability of the solution that is constantly improved and refined”, says Sergei Leuchanka Managing Director Gurtam, Americas.
The explosive growth stimulated by the Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) Mandate in the U.S., emerging market opportunities, and last mile delivery is providing tremendous upside for numerous telematics service providers. ABI Research forecasts that opportunities for further telematics penetration exist, especially for segments such as services, government and public transport, with compound annual growth rate (CAGR) all between 16-19%.
"Commercial telematics providers will continue to expand their market presence through the introduction of connected, secure and scalable innovations including gateways, prognostics, open APIs/SDK's, and ecosystem marketplaces. More nascent technologies such as blockchain, autonomy and electrification will impact the industry in the coming years," says Susan Beardslee, Senior Analyst at ABI Research.
