Tractor GPS tracking in Benin

Problem

The client is a governmental agency in Benin that sells and leases agricultural equipment such as tractors to farmers at a reduced price through government grants. Previously such projects failed because their owners could not control vehicles and other assets across vast and remote areas. Farmers didn’t follow a maintenance schedule of the rented equipment and abandoned it once issues started emerging. Lost assets came at a huge cost to the government that didn’t receive any return on investment. 

Solution

Our partner, SLI AFRIKA, developed a farming and tractor GPS tracking system for a fleet of one thousand vehicles.

The solution consists of the following elements:

• FMB920 tracking devices and EYE beacons were installed on tractors. These models by Teltonika provide real-time information about tractor location and allow to send notifications to its users when the asset is at risk;
• the Wialon server solution that supplies fleet managers with analytics data to assist in maintaining the rented equipment.

The agency benefit from the tractor gps tracking system in a number of ways. They:

• create reminders for scheduled maintenance and part replacement;
• reduce risks of the tractor’s misuse and damage.
