Wialon Hosting: What’s new in February 2018

February days keep passing by and surprising us with unexpected interchange of extreme frost and pretty mild weather. Since Wialon system is far more stable than Belarusian weather, get ready for new features. This month they are interesting enough and as always are aimed at making your work with the system as quick and accurate as possible. Read on to learn more.

Deactivated units

We added the option to deactivate “temporary” (i.e. seasonal) units. We mostly mean specialized machinery operating for several months each year while staying intact and uncontrolled for the rest of the time.

Deactivated units

And that’s what we’ve added:

  1.  The new dialog in CMS Manager for “temporary” units deactivation. As a result, you won’t be able to work with the units and their data in the system.
  2.  The billing mechanism for payments excluding deactivated units. Contact your regional manager to learn more.

What for? Lots of our partners used to face the same problem time and again: the necessity to pay for the units that are not actually monitored for quite a long time. Agricultural machinery, for example, which work is season-related. When harvesting is over, and there is no need to track them, no one would like to spend extra money to pay for these units.

Previously, to exclude such units, integrators (who charge the end-users only for the months of actual operation) had to delete the units from the system having exported all the necessary data to the file. When there was a need to use these units again (maybe, in half a year, for instance), they imported all the data back which also demanded time and efforts.

To facilitate this process, we added the feature of deactivating the units. It will be available for TOP account owners and Dealer users. After activating this feature, the units will be hidden in the system, and the payment for them will not be charged.

The feature can be activated on the “Units” tab in CMS Manager - development branch. Here we implemented the search by units, the unit groups, owners, and two columns to work with:

  • Active units and their data available for users in Wialon Hosting. They can be deactivated for up to 90 days.
  • Deactivated units unavailable for up to 90 days. They can be activated at any time.

Deactivated units

A new feature will be useful not only for the users working in the agricultural sector but also for those having machinery under permanent maintenance, working with snow-clearing or specific construction vehicles or having the units that were not paid by the end-users. Find more information on our forum.

Note. The option is not available for the companies buying unit packages (50 extra units). The mechanism is applied only if you pay for "Each extra unit" extensions.

Reports by digital sensors

We added “Custom sensors mask” parameter to “Digital sensors” report. Now you can additionally display initial and final values of custom sensors for the period when the digital sensor was active.

Deactivated units

What for? To combine two and more tables with the data from different sensors even if the parameter is the same (weight for instance). Imagine, you use axle load sensors to define the time of the vehicle loading and the goods weight. For this purpose, you create custom and digital sensors.

Activation of the digital sensor with “on/off” parameter signifies the start or the end of loading/unloading. And you get the information on the place and duration of loading in the corresponding report.

The report on the axle-load custom sensor gives the accurate data on the weight changes at different time points.

To merge the tables just specify the custom sensor mask while creating the report on the digital sensor. This is just the example, but in this way, you can merge several tables with the data on digital and custom sensors.

Eco Driving

We added the feature to display all trips in “Eco-driving” report.

Deactivated units

What for? To see the correlation of the trips with and without violations of each employee. For example, according to the report on two drivers, they both have five trips with violations. It seems like they should be punished identically. But one of them has five minor violations out of 200 trips, and the other one drove dangerously five times out of five. You will be able to see this after activation of “Show all trips” option.

Knowing the proportion of the trips with and without violations, you’ll be able to analyze when and how often Vin Diesel awakens in your driver: on his way home, to work, to his wife, or during the lunch break. If there is a certain regularity, it’s high time you stopped his reckless driving.

*If the option is not activated, you will see only the trips with violations on the table.
