Update: what’s new in February 2019?

7 March, 2019

It was the shortest month with the largest number of new features added to our software for quite some time. We updated Wialon Hosting, Fleetrun, and NimBus. Read more to deeper learn the updated products.

Wialon Hosting

One-click to copy a Locator link

The corresponding button is located in line with each link in Locator dialog.

Use it when you need to create a new Locator link configured similarly to the existing one. In the link copy, you’ll find the same unit list, sensor masks, life span, “Geofences” and “Tracks” display options, and even notes. The only thing left to do is to set up activation time and edit configuration if needed.

Notifications sent to Telegram

When something important happens (e.g., speed limit violation), Wialon notifies you by SMS, email, and in a pop-up window. For those missing three types of notifications, we add the fourth one called Telegram messenger. Read the docs to configure the new notification channel in three simple steps.

The map following units smoothly

  • “Watch unit on map” option in the monitoring panel;
  • In the Track Player tool the map can move along with the unit while playing a track;
  • Minimaps automatically center on vehicles and follow them.

Since today, in all three cases, the map moves more smoothly.

Limitations for top users

We strive for the proper hierarchical structure of partner accounts. For example, top user – dealer – dealer’s clients with his units. In real life, it’s seldom like that. Top users tend to create all the units. To prevent it, we added limitations for top users on the creation of new units. In the future, it will help to scale up your account, add new users to business processes, grant access rights for unit management. We described the limitations in details in the recent article – you should not miss it.

Nimbus

For dispatchers

We extended the solution for scheduled transportation management with “Fulfillment of rides” option. Here, the user specifies the minimum rate of visited stops, so that the ride is considered to be fulfilled. The rate affects the statistics on fulfilled rides. Earlier, the list contained all the rides where the driver visited at least one stop. Now, the user himself sets up the criteria for ride fulfillment.

For passengers

Click on a stop in the Locator interface, and you’ll see the list of transport routes that you can take. The order of routes depends on the ETA of the nearest unit. High on the list, you will see the routes with the units arriving at this stop first. The data will help think up the road in advance if you’re planning to change buses.

I bet several of you already use these features. And someone even offered to implement them. If you want to be the first to learn about the updates and participate in product development, visit the new NimBus section on our forum and participate in discussions.

Fleetrun

E-mail notifications

You no longer need to look at the screen all the time – Fleetrun can now notify you about changing Service statuses via e-mail. You can specify one or several e-mail boxes on the “Notifications” tab in the administrator interface.

Wialon Hosting

Spare parts quantity

You can now add the number of spare parts when creating the Service or Interval. It may apply to tires and shock absorbers that should be replaced by twos. In this case, you don’t need to add a spare part twice – specify their number in the new column. Fleetrun will automatically recalculate the cost of maintenance considering the additional spare parts.

More information on the map

Click on the unit on the map and see its address, speed, and the time of the last message. This data helps to understand if the vehicle is close to any service station or how far it could go since connection loss. The map itself can now be expanded to examine the unit location in more detail.

Wialon Hosting

Grouping units by types

Make it a rule – specify the type of the unit upon its creation. You have good reasons for that:

  • First, it enables grouping by type in the unit list.
  • Second, this parameter will be used to filter Services, Intervals, units, and reports.

That way, you will quickly find the necessary information on any tab.

Wialon Hosting

Extended data on upcoming Services

Users need to know what works are planned for the vehicle when within the next visit the to the service station. We’ve added the information:

  • "Units" section – "Assigned intervals" tab.
  • “Intervals” section – “Assigned units” tab.

If you know about the upcoming service works, you can cover several Services per single maintenance procedure. Even though the Services are still upcoming. Plus, the data on such Services can be exported into a file and applied to other vehicles in your fleet.

Wialon Hosting

It looks like a big Fleetrun update. But in February, we added new features three times! We can do it even more frequently with your help. Follow the development process and post suggestions on our forum in the new Fleetrun section.

Last month, we upgraded three products. Next month, we are planning to level up Wialon Local to the version 1904. These updates are worth waiting – stay tuned to the news on Gurtam blog.
