Gurtam 2019: the year overview

The new year has just come, and it's time to sum up the results of the year ended. What happened at Gurtam over the past 12 months?

• We’ve drunk 68,600 cups of coffee (enough to fill a whole swimming pool);
• We’ve sent 560,000 emails to our partner community members;

• We’ve answered 30,000 technical support requests (82 requests per day without breaks for holidays and weekends).

All this sounds impressive, but it’s significant only for us. And for you, dear partners, we've prepared a compilation of facts with the results of the community and the company's performance over the year. So, here we go!

The number of units connected in 2019

We can hardly determine the exact number of units, as the new connections are appearing even while you are reading the article. However, now we can say that there were more than 500,000 units connected in 2019.

• We started tracking the companies that connected each 100,000th unit in March 2019, when the 1,900,000th unit was registered in the system. That time, LaxsonGPS from Canada became the lucky ones;
• Two months later, in May, the partnership community reached a great milestone of 2,000,000 units. KLOUDIP from Sri Lanka hit the big time;
• In August, the 2,100,000th unit was connected by Navion from Kazakhstan;
• MaliaTec from Lebanon celebrated the connection of the 2,200,000th unit;
• Recently, thanks to the company UTRACK from Tanzania Wialon obtained the 2,300,000th unit.

• We also honored the first partner who managed to reach the mark of 100,000 units on Wialon – Wialon-Service from Tolyatti (Russia).

Hardware

In 2019, we added the support of 180 new devices on Wialon.

• Teltonika gained a foothold among the leaders in the Gurtam manufacturers rating with more than 200,000 connected devices;
• In 2019, Galileosky and Navtelecom gained 100,000 devices on the platform.

IoT zones, conferences, and exhibitions

Last year, we organized four IoT zones at major industry events – Expo Seguridad in Mexico City, Comtrans in Moscow, GITEX in Dubai, and MWC Los Angeles in Los Angeles. The participants of Gurtam IoT zones appreciated this format of engagement at exhibitions back in 2018, so, a year later, 17 companies did it again.

We didn’t arrange huge joint booths for all exhibitions. For example, we were presented by standard booths at Exposec in Brazil and Securex in South Africa, which didn't make it less successful. The regional managers held 500 meetings at two exhibitions.

The most of the meetings at the 2019 exhibitions took place at GITEX and Expo Seguridad  – 320 and 290, respectively.

The IoT zone participants presented their products and also attended the Gurtam partner conference, which took place the day before the exhibition. In 2019, there were four such conferences, and the total participants number was more than 900 people, including TelematiX, which we will discuss later.

In just a year, in order to participate in the industry events and 14 Gurtam community conferences, Gurtam employees flew 90,000 kilometers! It is more than two round-the-world trips.

TelematiX

569 participants from 64 countries came to the tenth-anniversary TelematiX conference. In three days, they attended 130 presentations and training sessions. At the hardware exhibition, which worked alongside with the business agenda, 31 technology partners presented their devices, solutions, and services.

In 2019, the conference ended with the premiere of the GPS Hardware Manufacturers TOP 10 award ceremony. We are sure that this rating will become traditional along with the Wialon TOP 50 Global 2019.

Products

• In 2019, 150 new features were added to Wialon Hosting. The smooth movement of units on the map and the option to search through the units list were the most warmly received updates.
• We released Wialon Local 1904, which included most of the updates from the cloud version. By the way, more than half of the previous versions users have already switched to 1904.
• The end of May was marked by the release of Hecterra, a new solution for the agricultural sector.
• In August, a new version of the Wialon app for Android and iOS became available.

The developer community

In spring, we launched a new gurtam.com page, where we collect the Wialon-based developments and integrations with other systems. Now you can find a solution suitable specifically for your project or order its development.

During TelematiX, we hosted the first developer hackathon in community history. In 48 hours, each of the four teams created a working telematic solution. Now developers have a platform for communication and exchange of experience, too!

But there's more to tell you!

And finally, some more important achievements:

• We redesigned gurtam.com (does anyone remember the old version of the site?);
• We launched a library of cases;
• We congratulated the partner community on connecting the two-millionth unit on 2mln.gurtam.com, and there we made everyone eat lemons;
• We provided 317 partners with marketing support;
• We held 24 webinars in Russian, English, and Spanish, not only on working with Wialon but also on the flagship applications, equipment, as well as on digital marketing;
• We compiled marketing checklists for partners in three languages (find them at my.gurtam.com);
• We updated my.gurtam.com and added the ability to use it for hardware manufacturers.

2019 turned out to be full of events, plans, projects, and meetings with good people. We thank our partners and appreciate their efforts which made 2019 so bright.
