For the past 2 months, Gurtam has held 2 partner conferences attended by 300+ professionals from the leading companies worldwide. We thank partners for the informative feedback, sound ideas, and suggestions towards the development of our flagship solutions and, particularly, Logistics service. Soon we’ll finalize the analytics and start working on the most urgent and relevant requests. But even today we updated the interface, fixed several bugs, and optimized the performance. Let’s turn our attention to the major novelties in v.2.1.
Can you guess what the icons are for?
If yes, you’re 1 of 5. Nevertheless, by clicking those you activate one of the most interesting options in Logistics service – a visual comparison of the actual and planned routes. So we decided to anticipate your questions and added tooltips for “Show actual route” and “Choose map source” icons, making the work with Logistics more intuitive.
Considering dozens of requests for the comparison of actual and planned routes, we modified unit track display for each of them. Instead of a line width used to distinguish between the types of routes, we implemented a dashed line for planned routes. That way, you can accurately determine deviations from a route not being focused on the map for a while.
Efficient Logistics is not only about route optimization, but also the adequate vehicle loading, regional distribution, allowances for loading/unloading time, etc. Imagine the situation when you're trying to get to a small toaster through the fridges, pianos, and other large sized goods to be unloaded only at the end of the day. This will cause prolonged unloading processes and late arrivals. To ensure proper loading we added an option to “Print load plan” (the orders are printed in reverse order). Thanks to this, the solution elaborates vehicle loading for the driver, while he only has to stow the goods in the right order and start the round!
As the flexibility of Logistics configuration grows, it takes more and more time to get the solution totally customized for your business. But it is well worth the effort. So if the configuration is changed behind your back, the business processes may be compromised. That’s why we start implementing limitations for Logistics service. Starting from v.2.0, if a user in the monitoring system has “Can change settings” option deactivated, he wouldn’t be able to change the configuration in Logistics as well.
We implement dropdown lists for you to find the necessary information faster and simpler. Excess information demands more time to be analyzed and loaded. That's why we cut the number of addresses in search results when creating an order from 100 to 20 making the whole process faster.
The planning process has also been modified. Step two was supplemented with filtration by order types. After specifying a vehicle type in order creation dialog, you'll get the relevant unit list to distribute selected orders. This is how we relieve users from needless clicks and ensure the display of proper information.
In step 3 you can repeatedly reshuffle order distribution by pressing the corresponding button. It will help to promptly change route settings (checkpoint order, distribution between units) and apply it at once with no need to switch between tabs.
Moreover, we made it more convenient to work with import dialog by adding the side scroll and the separate button to create columns.
This is where we start! Try the updated Logistics 2.1 and leave your comments and suggestion on Gurtam forum. Still not sure if you'll be heard? Forward your question to Sergei Serdechny (serd) – the eternal Wialon Expert and the business analyst focused on Logistics project.
